Some channels may occasionally restrict viewing or black out certain events, shows and movies. Blackout rules are set by the leagues, content owners and networks that purchase the rights to a particular broadcast. Our agreements require us to black out content for various reasons:
- Sports blackouts based on viewing area: If a national network and regional or local channel are airing the same game, there may be blackouts based on where you're located
Example: A Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors game is airing on both NBA TV and each team’s regional sports network, AT&T Sportsnet Southwest and NBC Sportsnet Bay Area respectively. The game is available nationwide on NBA TV except in the Houston and San Francisco markets. The game will be available to local fans on AT&T Sportsnet Southwest and NBC Sports Network Bay Area.
- Content blackouts based on streaming rights: Sometimes, you may not be able to stream a certain show or movie because someone else has exclusive streaming rights to the event
- Device-specific blackouts: In some cases, someone else may have exclusive rights to stream certain events on specific devices. For example, mobile devices
What will I see if an event is blacked out?
In most cases, you will see on-screen messaging letting you know that the programming you're trying to watch is blacked out. However, some channels will show alternate programming in place of this messaging.
Example: Regular season games on MLB Network are available nationwide except in the home markets of the two participating teams. Customers in these markets would see an alternate game.
What can I do if I am seeing a blackout message in error?
If you believe you may be receiving a blackout message incorrectly, try the following steps:
Many of the regional sports networks available on fuboTV offer alternate channels for when multiple events are taking place at the same time. If you're seeing a blackout message or a different game, find these alternate channels in your guide to see if your game is being broadcast there.
Visit fubo.tv/gamefinder and enter your ZIP code to see what channel a game will be on in your area.
Log in to your account at fubo.tv, and under My Account, check the Home ZIP Code field. If needed, enter your correct ZIP code, then hit Update.
Regional Sports Networks you receive with your fuboTV subscription will travel with you, however, any devices used while traveling must be logged in from your home area once every 30 days to continue watching programming on those channels.
